love this, the textures and shapes are so evocative. Love those roots and rocks and the solid little habitation.

Thanks, Frances. I’m kind of fond of this painting, but no-one has commented on it before you. It was a real marathon painting the rocks with all the cracks and crevices. With modern painting programs you can paint textures like this with a couple of mouse clicks. I still like the feel of a paintbrush between my fingers and I also like the marathon time aspect, with a double latte at hand and some good music in the background. It’s not just the result, it’s also the process.
